I am not the most religious Jew you will meet. For that matter, I am not the most religious Jew you will meet in the line for bacon cheeseburgers at an atheists' convention. Nonetheless, amidst the great religious insanity that threatens to consume us all, I take a certain pleasure in some of the customs of my ancestors' faith, especially compared to certain other religions that will remain nameless for now. Horseradish is consumable masochism at its finest.

So far as I know, nothing in Torah specifies the size of the cup. So maybe you can just think of them as cup 1a, 1b, 2a, 2b, 3a, and so forth.

After lunch on Monday, I realized that I hadn't checked what wine my mum was serving - this is something I've taken to checking after the Thanksgiving she tried to serve Cote du Rhone. It was one of the first things I asked her when I got to their house, only to find out she was serving grape juice. Sna?!? Somehow, nobody died as a result.

Yes, I have to do that when my in-laws are hosting a family meal. "Uh, I don't think that chardonnay is the right wine with turkey and sweet potatoes."
