I am spending a few days in Margate, New Jersey. I'm not on vacation (my wife is); it's just that I work from home, and I figure any place I'm staying can count as "home," so long as I get the work done.

Margate is three or four miles from Atlantic City. I was leafing through a local directory of events when I saw that the Sex Pistols had recently performed at the Trump Marina Hotel and Casino. I suppose everyone has the right to cash in at some point, but even so--bleah.

Yeah, that's a weird tour. Sex Pistols, Dropkick Murphys, and The Reverend Horton Heat. The Trump show is really expensive, like $60. The Sex Pistols made it clear when they reunited, it was all about the money. In some ways, it was always about the money for the Sex Pistols. The Murphys play a lot of weird shows. They seem not to have mastered the art of actually getting paid for them, though. And as for TRHH, well, weird lineup, but damn, although no show is worth more than $30-35, that comes pretty damn close. No lightweights there.

At least they were able to hold onto their music rights, and are not subjected to the fate of hearing their songs in a car (Buzzcocks) or phone (Ramones) commercial.

I am horrified... we're all doomed, or at least scheduled for some weird ass crap, or maybe just rooms containing excessive numbers of rubber toys and toothpicks.
