The Low-Set Bar

I have heard reports of moms in our social circle being impressed that I, a mere dad, managed all by my self and on my own initiative to put together an overnight trip to go skiing with the boy. Dude, it wasn't all that hard, and it's kind of disappointing that expectations are so low.

Then again, I like being impressive.

That reminds me of one woman telling me how she was feeling grateful to have come home from a business trip to find that her husband had done the laundry and cleaned the house before she got back. Then she felt mixed feelings of "That was a nice thing for him to do" with anger that she normally did so much of the household chores that his taking a turn with the laundry and housecleaning would make her feel grateful. He should be helping out all the time! But yeah...low expectations.
