Here are my answers to the first group of questions. I hope this clears some things up.

[livejournal.com profile] starkyld: A bunch of reasons, the simplest being that I would need to lose some weight and do a whole mess of crunches--I do pretty well in the heterosexual-male-over-30 division, but I'm not quite ready for the open level. I also think it could interfere with other aspects of my career in the long run. I also don't know how in the world I'd explain it to my wife.

Still, I certainly fit the stereotype, what with the emotional issues and the narcissism and all. How much are you offering?

[livejournal.com profile] wishiwas: In one sense, because I like having food and a roof over my head. In another sense, because I like having money to live in New York and buy nice things, and because I feel proud to do a job well, even if my employer doesn't deserve it, and because it feels to me like building something, which is important to me.

[livejournal.com profile] sonicblue: Because we like you! Emm, ohh, youu, ess, eee!!!

[livejournal.com profile] roadnotes: Besides you, of course? Yes. Absolutely.

[livejournal.com profile] heartstoe: Don't knock the web; it's a great resource, but you have to follow up in the real world. For instance, on the web, you can find out about organizations like the Eulenspiegel Society, which has lots of meetings and activities in the New York City area. If you become a regular, active member of any kind of online community, you will probably find that there are good opportunities to meet other members at munches and the like. I wound up with some memorable encounters that way, myself. Finally, just meeting lots of people may be the most helpful thing you can do, if you're the sort of person who can stand it. In Different Loving (I think), Gloria Brame tells a good story about how flirting at a bar, with undertones of what they were both looking for, led to a mutually satisfying lifestyle relationship within a happy marriage.

[livejournal.com profile] terrilyn: Different amounts, depending on what you mean. On a certain level, I'm sure I'd find something to be miserable about no matter how much it was. On another, I'd be happy to win enough to make it worth the bother to collect. If I have to cut the bullshit and give a number, though, I'd want to clear about $50 million in cash after taxes.

How much are you offering?

[livejournal.com profile] tacologic: Yes, thanks very much, but I am already committed to another one that same night, so I'm going to have to wait a little bit to see how the timing works out. Want to come to mine?

[livejournal.com profile] coyotegoth: Sometimes it's Chinatown, but it's really evil. In a bad way, I mean.

[livejournal.com profile] golddog: Am back, will make pie.

I'm not offering...

I was just realizing that for me, I'd be happy with about 75K after taxes.... enough to pay off student loans, get a new car, save for a downpayment on a house, and go on a modest vacation.

100M would be cool... but for me to be happy, and stress-free.... I think that's about all it would take.
