I used to have a large mole in the center of my forehead. Shortly before I had it removed (about 15 years ago), someone described it as "a target you could hit from across the street."
That procedure may already have saved my life once, as the doctor who removed that mole gave me my first thorough medical evaluation of my skin, and he found a melanoma elsewhere on my body, which he also removed before it got big or deep enough to cause any trouble.
Melanoia's are scary. I'm always outside and never use sunscreen, but I tan so easily and never seem to burn.
I had a job for a while at a defense contractor and had put down I was hispanic as a sort of protest. I resent affirmative action I suppose, and I can assure you they saw hispanic and put me at the head of the list.
Half my work was in the field, and one day I was talkin with the human resource girl and a secretary, and the secretary said she wanted my job cause I had such a nice tan. The Human Resource girl turned white, I guess she thought I might take offense, cause she jumped in and said I was "naturally dark" and gave a look to the secretary.
I came home and told the wife that and she had a good laugh.
Here's the thing: I don't feel I can call up the client and say, "If it's all the same to you, I'd just like to stay out of Maryland and Virginia until y'all take care of this sniper thing." It doesn't seem tactful to highlight the fact that they live in that area all the time.
I figure I can improve my already-good odds by sticking to downtown Richmond, anyway.
They've already manipulated our revenue numbers to cheat me out of the bonus that I've earned. You think they're going to listen to anything I have to say about hazard pay?
wear dark colors, stay low, and remember, line of sight obstacles are your friends... odds are extremely low, however, may the force be with you young luke...
Are you driving? If yes, make sure to fill up in Baltimore, or at least before you hit Montgomery County. Park close to entrances of buildings when you can and walk quickly. Some people recommend zigzagging. When moving from a building to the car, don't stop to put anything in the trunk. Take it with you into the car and dump it in the driver's seat.
If calling a cab stay inside until it arrives and don't put anything in the trunk (see above).
You know, i just noticed how ridiculous that just looked. The sad thing is it's all true.
That said, it's just a day. You'll be fine! If it makes you feel better, just stay indoors as much as possible when it's dark out.
No, I'm flying, I think, and since the sniper hasn't yet tried anything with a box cutter, I'll probably be safe from him there. Then I get the rental car and go directly downtown. My client is downtown, as well, then back to the airport, and the return to New York, where all I have to worry about are muggers, psychos who push people in front of subway trains, and weapons of mass destruction.

They're a bunch of cheap-ass melon farmers.
