Remember Not To Shake Hands
Oct. 3rd, 2002 02:42 pmMy latest project has me working on-site for the next few weeks at an outpost of the General Electric Corporation. This has certain advantages, like convenient access to the rest of the project team and to the system that will host my work. It has disadvantages, too, like having to shave every morning, not being able to take my afternoon nap, and the inability to access porn or my email until I get home.
But I also get to make amusing observations about corporate life. Apparently GE believes in having lots of meetings, but also in keeping them short and making damn sure they end on time. This has vaguely amusing consequences, as I found out when the men's room was unusually crowded as people got out of the 10 AM meetings and needed to get ready for the ones at 11 AM.
