I'm currently in the middle of brief pit stop in my own home. Tomorrow afternoon I fly to Chicago, where I'll be until Friday. I'm mostly packed, but there's still stuff to do. I have to bring a suit for Saturday, plus workout clothes so I don't turn to solid lard, plus my study material, plus my laptop and all its accoutrements, all of which mean lots of luggage.
My boss, for his part, is also flying out, but only for a day. He's taking us to a Cubs game that night, which will be fun, if a little inconvenient.
After that, I spend three days working with a client to start a project that everyoneincluding the clientknows I won't be around to finish.
I'm only really comfortable when I have more work than I know what to do with, because it keeps me focused. It's when things ease up that I get in trouble.
Lauren is grumpy. Apart from everything else, she gets nervous when I'm not home, and there's a lot of that happening lately. She's also a little worn out from putting together a baby shower for a cow-orker.
