Jun. 27th, 2004 12:58 pmIt is reassuring, I suppose, to find that Japanese engineers—and thus Japanese patent lawyers—seem no more skilled at writing than American ones. But any such feeling is swamped by a certain amount of despair that the Japanese patents I now struggle to understand seem to have been translated into English by one who spoke no language other than Basque.

Date: 2004-06-27 08:32 pm (UTC)BTW -- lack of writing skills is a serious disease that affects the scientific and engineering public. At times it can be comical -- at others, well, it makes you want to smack your palm to your forehead and emit an audible 'Doh.
