Here are the theories circulating about the delays in getting the test results out:

  1. The Patent Office (PTO) is in the middle of moving to a new building, papers have been misplaced, and processes are disrupted.
  2. There were a great many questions on subjects that have not been tested in the past. The internal review of test results exposed flaws in many of the new questions, so the PTO must now spend a lot of time reviewing the questions and deciding which ones to throw out.
  3. The PTO suspects cheating on a large scale.
  4. The delay is somehow connected to the PTO's plans to switch to an entirely new test format in the spring.
  5. The PTO is being willfully annoying.

You forgot number 6

The PTO noticed you took the test, and being the evil goblin-monkeys spawned by their dark lord just for the purpose of disturbing your life that they are, they decided to delay giving out results this year.

Right. so, I used to work as a contractor at the PTO.

They are slow at everything. I promise it is not you, and I promise that it is not just in this one thing. They are slow. Very, very slow.

Also, they are moving. Their move makes me happy, as they are moving to my neighborhood, which means there will soon be more places to eat around here. However, moving always slows things down.

Sorry. I was hoping you'd heard already, as my sister needs a patent attorney right now and I wanted to refer her to you.

It's possible. She *does* need to get the patent submitted, but at this point, waiting until January shouldn't really make much of a difference.
