Before the Nurses Shut Me Down

I am getting better: more than 18 hours have elapsed since I last needed painkillers. Drinking causes pain, but I usually can manage it. I am still not allowed to eat, though, and I'm very hungry. Still, I have had three hospital meals consisting almost entirely of tea, cherry jello, and cranberry juice. Lunch and dinner also included "consomme." I didn't know consomme was made from petrochemicals.

I have lost some weight. Some of it was muscle, which I don't appreciate.

Thanks for the flowers to those involved. eleanor dropped by this afternoon for a much-appreciated visit and met Lauren.

I expect that I will be discharged tomorrow if I can eat soft food, which seems reasonably possible. If not, then Sunday, if I can eat soft food then. My doctor tells me that I will probably be able to resume a near-normal diet within about a week. He seemed to have all of his own teeth, so I'm assuming his idea of normal at least vaguely resembles mine.

Of course, this was a crappy time to lose a week, but at least it was now, and not two weeks from now.

And that's about it. More when I'm actually allowed to do this, in the comfort of my own home.

I'm glad you are healing. Is it okay to guffaw in a post about pain? Because I nearly lost it when you talked about normal diet. Hope you will get to eat that soon.
