Weekend Update
Mar. 17th, 2003 02:27 pmStressed for no good reason besides the ongoing existential crises. Busy. Tired. Looking forward to the upcoming long weekend, if not the time spent on various airplanes.
Saturday and Sunday were mostly chores and projects around the house. Saturday night, we had a late dinner at an odd little French (Freedom?) place in Murray Hill. We were joined by Glen, a guy Lauren met at her yoga retreat in Costa Rica. After dinner, we went to Shelter a dance club in that part of town, where we joined Karen, who was also on the yoga trip.
Shelter was interesting. One of the most racially mixed crowds I've seen at a club, but also one of the most seemingly heterosexual. Even though I'm het myself, I usually have more fun at places that are more mixed. Still, the music was loud, and there were lots of people having lots of fun.
I could come up with lots of nits to pick, but I had some moments were I felt I knew what The Bacchae was all about, and that's basically the criterion that separates a good club night from a bad one.
Lauren, Glen, and I all got tired early, though, so we left at about 1 AM. Our friend left at 4, though, and her friend stayed untill 7 AM. I like those friends.
Sunday was laundry, cleaning, and making roast chicken with herb butter for dinner, followed by Six Feet Under.
My malpractice insurance is now in effect, so I now feel free to practice law. The new VLA list of matters should be out today or tomorrow, so maybe I'll have a case soon.
Today, meanwhile, my main project at work involves trying to clean up an old mess for an important client. It involves using a different library to manipulate some documents, because the one we're currently using is slow and unreliable. The annoying thing is that I did this project with another guy, and he and I have very different coding styles--it's taking everything I have not to rewrite the whole thing, improving the object-oriented design and exception handling. Oh, well.
