No Way Out

Well, today I applied for malpractice insurance and ordered business cards, so I guess that means I'm officially a lawyer again.

Yesterday, I had an orientation with the pro bono coordinator at VLA, which went well, although I can't really imagine it having gone otherwise. I do need to have malpractice insurance to work on their projects. On the other hand, I don't need to join VLA to work on their cases, but I should if I want to go to their happy hours and parties. Since networking with lawyers who might one day hire me is a big reason I'm doing this, I am thus joining VLA.

At the orientation, I got their latest list of matters, which is 26 pages long. Once I get my insurance, I expect I'll start with non-profit incorporation, as that seems simple and well-delimited, and generally the best way to get my chops back.
