The Unwelcome Mental Images Club
Jan. 31st, 2003 03:45 pmLast night was busy, in a good way.
Things started with a late volleyball match. They scheduled us for a night we don't usually play, so only five players showed up. We had a few rough moments--during the first game of the match, my bumping was the ballistic equivalent of a random number generator--but we managed to win all three games. One of my teammates who I usually want to strangle didn't show, and the other one played well. This brings us to 6-3 for the season to this point: we are not yet mathematically eliminated from the playoffs.
I brought clean clothes with me to the volleyball match, and I stopped at a branch of my gym to shower and change. From there, I finally went for the first time to the famous piano bar. It was fun and hysterical, and I drank too much and stayed too late.
Tonight, I think, my plan is to catch up on my life and to clean up the apartment in anticipation of my wife's return from Costa Rica. Then tomorrow afternoon, I go to New Haven for a banquet, which is as much an opportunity to wear my tuxedo and have cocktails and hors d'oeuvres as it is anything else.
