The Social Life of an Introvert
May. 17th, 2003 08:47 pmAfter the first half of this weekend, I am exhausted. My wife had to go to State College for a four-hour-long meeting this morning. There's no other good way to get there from here, so we just rented a car. We left last night, arrived around midnight after about 5 hours on the road in constant rain and mist, and then went to bed. This morning, she got up really early, went to her meeting, and then we drove back to New York, arriving about an hour ago. I drove most of the way home myself.
I get so many husband points for this. I think the only thing that could burn this many husband points, in fact, would be for my wife to catch me in bed with her sister and her best friend.
So we are exhausted, but will do three parties tonight nonetheless. We are first meeting a friend (who I haven't seen in months and months) for tapas, and afterwards we are going to a friend's boyfriend's 45th birthday party at a karaoke place in the East Village. Somewhere along the way, I have a housewarming to visit.
Tomorrow I will be tired and grumpy.
